Valentines & Awesome 25% Off Deal

Hello Lovely Blog Readers,

I have a few things to catch up on. As much as I am loving this spring weather, it knocked me out last week with a horrible sinus infection, so I am just now getting back to the blog. Will and I had a wonderful Valentine's celebration. We went to Riverbanks Zoo on Saturday night. If you know Will, you know he is obsessed with all things zoo related. I saw that they had a Valentine's package there and jumped on it.

We got to the zoo at 6:00 and it was only other couples. Everyone got a cocktail and a few employees were walking around with small animals that you could hear about and pet. Then we were split up into small groups where we toured the zoo and learned all about the different mating rituals of animals. The koala bears were the best because they are nocturnal, so I had never seen them out before.

It is hard to see in the picture, but there is a baby koala bear with the mom. He was so cute.

There were games to play along the way. One game was after we learned about the frogs. The tour guide choose about 5 couples (we were chosen) and we had to come up with a frog call that our significant other would recognize. Then we were all blindfolded and had to find each other with our frog calls. It was pretty hilarious. I know all this might sound dorky, but it really was so much fun and great to do something different than just a normal date.

After the tour we had a beautiful dinner. Overall, it was a blast, and I would definitely recommend it.

On another note, it is time for a really amazing Mary Kay 25% off. For the next two weeks I am offering 25% off all Mary Kay compacts and any items to go in them. If you know about our compacts, you know what an amazing deal this is and are probably as excited as I am.

Summerville, Here We Come!

Since Will found out that he was going to be staying in St. Matthews for work we knew that we wanted to at least consider moving for the last year or so that we would be down here for me to finish school. We love our apartment, but we also knew that we would love a little more space and LOVE a fenced in backyard for Grady.

We wanted to look for a place to rent in Summerville since it would put Will two more exits closer to work and we do pretty much everything up there anyway. Well, we were pretty discouraged at first. Everything in Summerville that was close to the interstate was way out of our budget and we didn't think we would be able to move. Then we found a townhouse for rent just about two miles off the interstate but since it was on the other side of the interstate from all the shopping it was in our price range.

It is a fairly new townhouse with two bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 baths. Both bedrooms and full baths are upstairs and are both set up as potential master bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and walk-in closets. Then, downstairs there is a garage (yeah!), kitchen, eat-in area, and den. There is also a little screened porch and pretty nice sized backyard (best part)! It is an end unit, which is nice especially since the fence comes off to the side so there is a bigger yard.

We move in March 1st and we are getting so excited! Here are a few pictures...

This is our unit. I forgot to take a picture of the outside, but I got this one from the posting ad. It must be from when it was first built because now the fence comes out to the side.

This is when you walk in the front door once you get through the entryway which has a coat closet. In this picture the door to the left is the 1/2 bath, the door to the right is the garage, the eat-in cove is further up to the left with the kitchen across from that and then you get to the den.

This is the kitchen. It has an awesome pantry and a great work triangle. Alyssa and I love to talk about our work triangles like we are fabulous chefs, ha!

This is a picture from the back of the den.

We are looking forward to having you all over and can't wait to get in our new townhouse!

Day 10 of Valentines

So Will is always doing romantic things for me, and I always feel like I am just not as creative in this field. Well, this year I decided to try and really make him feel special and am doing 14 days of Valentines with a little gift each day. They have ranged anywhere from heart shaped cupcakes to a new book.

Side Note: Will is the absolute, 180 degree, opposite of me in one specific way: he is uncomfortable/awkward when receiving gifts. (Obviously, I do not have such a problem in that my Love Language is "Receiving Gifts" ha!) He has admitted that he wants to work on this because it is hard for him to enjoy something someone gives him, and I may be pushing him into working on this just because I love to give him things!

I think Will has enjoyed feeling special and seeing how much I love him each day when he finds something around the house- so I hope he has enjoyed this Valentine's fun, because I have had a blast coming up with things. Last night for Day 10 we ended up going to see a play downtown at Footlight Players. I have to admit that this was only possible because the tickets were on Groupon one day, so a great deal!

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures, but this is a picture of the Theater.

We turned it into a full date night and went to one of our favorite downtown restaurants, Sushi Hiro, which has great sushi for cheap! Then we headed to the theater and it was a beautiful community theater. The play was one of our favorites, "A Raisin in the Sun," and did not disappoint! It was such a wonderful performance (my eyes were even glistening at one point-which is quite the feat for those actors!) Overall it was a wonderful date, and we cannot wait to go back to this theater.

Christmas Present and 25% off Tuesday

I was blessed with so many wonderful Christmas presents this year. Will got me an amazing new watch that I had been dying to have, and I am absolutely obsessed with it. Another great present I got was from my dad, and it was a new sewing machine.

It is a Brother, and was the consumer best buy, so you know you are getting a good deal. It has so many great features, including an automatic needle threader, 5 one-step button holes, and 60 built in stitch functions. I know it sounds lame that I am this excited about a sewing machine, but I cannot help it.

As you know from my experimental baby quilt this past summer, I really want to learn how to quilt. Will's parents got me a quilting book and a gift certificate to a quilting shop for Christmas, so I of course immediately went and spent the whole thing! I am working on a jelly roll quilt right now. I am still getting the hang of my new sewing machine, but so far, it is working like a charm.

Here is the first set of blocks for my new quilt. It is hard to see because one of the fabrics is teal, so it blends in with the cutting board. I have four more sets of blocks to make with different fabrics, and then I can start putting them all together. I am trying to make myself take my time, since one unevenly cut block can throw off the whole quilt.

On another note...

Alright, it's week three with our item of the week. We did awesome last week, so let's keep it going!

Wonderful Long Weekend

This semester I have no Friday classes, which is wonderful! Especially because Will only works every over Friday, so that means every other week, we get a long three day weekend. (On the Fridays that he works, I am going to try and commit myself to work on my upper level writing requirement, so help keep me honest.) Well, this weekend was even better, because we got today off as well, for MLK day.

We have had such a fun weekend. A couple of people asked us earlier if we wanted to go out of town and do things, but we decided we just wanted to spend the weekend in Charleston. We started our weekend Thursday night and went to the Charleston Southern vs. Presbyterian game. It was great to see my alma matter playing only 2 minutes away, and there was a good PC crowd there! Missing our best player, it was still a great game, but PC ended up losing by 5 points.
It was strange to see Charleston Southern's gym, it was much smaller than even PC's gym, and obviously tons smaller than our high school gym. (Excuse the picture quality, we are currently facing a camera crisis, in that mine stinks and has suddenly gotten very fuzzy.)

So, Will and I watch a lot of strange tv. We love the discovery channel and A&E, and in particular a show called Auction Kings. It is about a guy who runs an auction house in Atlanta, GA, and the auctions always look so fun, we decided we wanted to find one to go to. Well it was not hard, there was one this past Saturday just a few minutes away, so we decided to go. It was so much fun!
Here are some of the people walking around before it started. We had no idea what to expect. When you get there you get a bid number and then walk around and look at all the items and see if there is anything you are interested in. It was 9:30 in the morning on a Saturday morning, but people were ready to go, you could even go ahead and get a chili hot dog (of which the smell made me want to be sick at that time of day).

The majority of the items are from estate sales, but some are just individual consignment pieces that people have brought in. I love antiques and looking at old furniture, so this was right up my alley. First they sold all the Persian rugs which went from about $40-$250 and were done really fast. Then everyone sat down and they worked their way around the room. If you were interested in a particular item, you told them and they put that up, because they had so much to sale. We were there from 9:30-1:30 and left when they still had a little bit to sale.
This is a picture of some more of the furniture. They had a pair of poster twin beds that I loved, but they went for way more than I was willing to pay. They also had an antique dresser that was a soft green and had a fabulous look to it. You can see the corner of it in the picture above, it is to the right. Will and I decided we would be willing to pay $75 for it; we thought it would be great in a guest room or in a nursery one day. As the auctioneer got closer to it, my heart was racing, it was so exciting. The bidding started at $30 and so I raised my card. It was all so fast and exciting, I can see how it would be addicting, but in the end it was between me and another woman and she bid $90 so I stopped. But, even though we didn't get it, I wasn't disappointed, because it was so much fun! We cannot wait to go back!

I will tell you about the rest of our weekend later, but it has been a great relaxing weekend! We hope yours has been just as wonderful.
